After not seeing Joe, Nick or Kevin for almost a week, Nick texted me on a Wednesday to see if I wanted to go bowling with them the next day. I quickly texted an excited acceptance to him, and ran down the hall to Hannah and Allie’s room to tell them what was going down. The three of us began to decide what we’d wear to our bowling excursion, and we ecstatically texted the guys about how ecstatic we were.


Hannah, Allie and I stood in the front lobby, pacing slowly, and wondering out loud where the boys were. My red and white patent leather Nikes squeaked on the white and burgundy linoleum floor as I walked around in circles around a small navy blue ottoman. I sighed, “Where are they?” I pulled on the hem of my favorite white tank top, the one with the red zebra stripes all over it.
“Did they stand us up?” Allie asked to no one in particular.
“I certainly hope not.” Hannah frowned. We all threw ourselves onto the tiny ottoman and we sighed. Uncomfortably we all sat in silence for another five minutes.
Then Kevin ran in through the spinning glass door, and made the three of us fall off of our ottoman. “Oh my gosh,” Kevin said, and ran over to us, helping us up. “Are you guys okay? And we’re sorry we’re late, our photo shoot ran late, and we’ve been trying to hurry…” Kevin frowned worriedly as he helped Hannah up.
“Kevin, it’s honestly alright.” I smiled.
“No it’s not!” Allie said fake-angrily.
“Just kidding!” Hannah laughed.
Kevin looked majorly relieved, and he smiled. “Well, shall we go?” Allie, Hannah and I nodded, and Kevin lead us outside, around to the back of the building, and to the car. “Voila!” He grinned, and quickly frowned.
“What’s wrong Kevin?” I asked.
“There are six of us, and the car seats five…” Kevin mumbled.
Joe rolled down the window. “What’s up?” He was in the back seat.
“There are six of us, and the car seats five.” Kevin repeated. I heard Nick start laughing.
Joe grinned. “Kaylee can sit on my lap, if she wants. Then we’ll have space.”
Kevin laughed. “Kaylee?” He looked at me. “Are you okay with that?”
“Um, sure?” I smiled. “You’re being warned though Joe, I’m heavy.”
“Don’t worry, I lift weights!” Joe smiled and flexed. Allie, Hannah, Kevin, Nick, and I started laughing.
“Now that that’s settled, let’s go!” Kevin laughed. He walked around and hopped into the driver’s seat. Joe opened his door and patted his leg. I rolled my eyes, laughing while I walked over to Joe. Allie and Hannah walked around to the side and got in that way.
“Sorry.” I said as I sat down on Joe’s lap.
“You are so not heavy, why’d you think that?” Joe laughed.
I blushed. “Um, no reason…”
“Buckle up!” Kevin shouted. We all obliged, and Kevin began to back out.

We chatted the whole way to the bowling alley, I tried not to move so I wouldn’t hurt Joe, or poke Nick in the back of the head, which I did once on accident. It resulted in him fake-yelling at me, which I thought was real, and then dead silence until Kevin began singing to Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” on the radio super loudly. We all laughed, and Kevin pulled into the parking lot.
The second the car stopped, I opened the door and hopped out. Everyone followed out at normal speed. Joe nonchalantly swung his hand up to grab mine, and he held my hand all the way into the bowling alley.
The whole inside of the alley was black light, and positively everything glowed. Joe and I stepped up to order our shoes first, mine were neon pink under the black light, and Joe’s were electric blue. We stepped off to the side by a table and began to take off our shoes as everyone else stepped up to get their shoes too.
Kevin got us lanes one and two, so we raced over and began to set up the names and everything. Nick got there first, so he could make the teams. “Okay,” He smiled deviously. “Hannah, Allie, and I on one team, Kaylee, Joe and Kevin on the other.”
Three of us groaned loudly, Kevin, Allie and I, and the other three smiled. I knew why Joe was smiling, but I wasn’t sure why Nick and Hannah were…
I was up first to bowl in Kevin, Joe and I’s lane. I raced over to the racks, grabbed a lime green bowling ball and slid back speedy quick. “Woo, let’s go Kaylee!” Joe shouted as I stepped up to the lane. Before I went ahead with my turn, I noticed Kevin asked for bumpers on both lanes, which was probably a good idea on his part.
I bowled a strike, earning me double high-fives from both Kevin and Joe. “How’d you do that?” Kevin asked, slapping me another high-five as Joe stood up to take his turn with his blue bowling ball.
“Luck.” I laughed. “I promise, it was pure luck.”
“Ah,” Kevin laughed. Then he hugged me, randomly. “Gimme some!”
“I’ll work on it!” I hugged him back. “Okay, that should work.”
Kevin laughed, “Thanks Kaylee.”
Joe slid back. “I got five down!” He was grinning like he had just gotten a strike.
“Wow, good job Joe.” Kevin smiled and patted Joe on the shoulder, then stepped up to bowl.
“Joe, that was fantastic.” I giggled, and slapped him a high-five.
“Thanks!” He smiled enthusiastically.
Kevin knocked down eight pins the first time, and got a 7-10 split. He tried desperately to curve the ball perfectly so it would hit both of the pins, but only ended up getting the left corner pin. “Yeah! I got nine!” He cheered, and slapped Joe and I high-fives.
“Good job Kev-o.” I smiled.
“Kev-o?” Joe laughed.
“New nickname!” Kevin smiled, and he pushed me forward, “It’s your turn Kaylee!”
“Alright, alright!” I giggled, and grabbed my bowling ball for my turn.

After playing three games, and Kevin, Joe and I won two of them, the six of us were sitting in the arcade, acting stupid and playing games. Hannah and Nick were playing the mini-basketball game, Allie was playing pinball next to Kevin, who was playing pinball too, and Joe and I were trying to play the Deal or No Deal game.
We failed epically at it.
“How do you lose at that game?” Joe laughed, holding up our three tickets we won.
“Being us.” I replied. “The only way to lose is to be us.” Joe and I laughed.
“Look how many tickets we got!” Hannah and Nick ran up, their arms full of tickets.
“Three hundred of them!” Nick laughed. “Who knew Hannah was amazing at basketball?”
“Me!” Allie and I said at the same time, making everyone laugh. Allie and Kevin walked over to join us.
“We’re going to go buy dinky prizes, be right back!” Hannah giggled.
“Wait!” Joe smiled and handed Hannah our three tickets. “Take this, it may earn you an extra eraser.”
“Okay, thanks Joe.” Hannah laughed. Her and Nick walked to the prize counter and began to point out a bunch of random stuff they ‘wanted’.
I took out my phone and saw I had three new messages, and it was almost five. I flipped my phone open and saw I had two new texts and a voicemail from my mom. The texts were from Joe, saying “You look very cute today ” and the voicemail from my mom was something about how we were going to visit my cousins in upstate New York tomorrow.
“We’re back!” Nick laughed and slid to our little huddle.
“We got bubbles for everyone,” Hannah smiled, holding out six little things of bubbles, “And an eraser for Joe that’s shaped like a puppy,” She handed Joe it, and a smile spread across his face, like it was a million dollars, “And then we bought a few glow bracelets.” Hannah giggled, holding out her wrist, which had like twenty glow bracelets on it.
We all laughed and each of us picked out our bubbles. I ended up getting a green one, and Joe got a blue one.
“So now what guys?” Kevin laughed, blowing bubbles at Nick angrily.
“I’m hungry.” Allie stated.
“Me too.” Joe laughed.
“Then we’ll go find some food?” Kevin smiled, turning to now blow bubbles angrily at Joe.
“Sure!” I giggled, and started blowing bubbles.
“Let’s go!” Kevin laughed and went back into the bowling alley section so we could trade in our shoes.

Three hours later the guys were dropping us off at the hotel, all of us full of ice cream and the best fries we had ever had. “Thanks guys, today was a lot of fun.” I smiled, doing my secret handshake with Kevin.
“No problem Kaylee.” The three of them all said at the same time.
“We have to hang out again sometime soon, alrighty?” Hannah smiled, hugging Nick.
“Yeah, okay.” Nick smiled, his cheeks turning a little red.
“Well, we have to go, I’ll text you guys as soon as I can!” Kevin laughed.
“Okay,” I smiled and hugged him really quick before I hugged Joe. “See you later.”
“Yeah, see you.” Joe smiled, and my heart melted. He looked like he was confused, like he was going to do something but couldn’t decide if he should. Then finally he smiled and said, “Bye Kaylee.”
“Bye Joe.” I smiled back, as the boys got back into Kevin’s car and drove off.
Hannah, Allie and I walked up to our room, looking at the crazy pictures Hannah had taken of us with her camera. We laughed our heads off at the one where Joe was covering up Kevin’s eyes as he was trying to bowl, and at the one where Allie was throwing the bowling ball down the lane, and the one when Nick picked up Hannah and was holding her as she tried to bowl.
We decided to have a crazy sleepover in Hannah and Allie’s room and watch movies and eat popcorn until we barfed. I ran to my room and got my toothbrush and some pajamas, and then we went to their room, where we ended up watching movies until three a.m.
